Here’s something fun to try if you’re a member of the Creative Caravan Coloring Book Club for Adults.
Use this week’s coloring page, which is a mandala, to create a zendala. A zendala is simply a mandala that includes all sorts of “tangle” designs within the sections of the mandala. Tangles are just little doodles that are repeated to create patterns
Make a Zendala
Start with This Week’s Coloring Page – A Plain Mandala (Mandala - Roller Coaster)
Next, start working from the inside of the mandala, adding lines to the design. In the next photo, you see that I filled in the sections around the triangle with zigzag lines.
Next, I simply made three lines through each of the sections in the circle that surrounds the triangle.
To fill in the sections outside of this center circle, I made little circles all crowded together to fill in each section. This photo shows just one of the sections fllled in, but you can see what the entire mandala looks like with all this little circles if you look at the last photo here of the completed picture.
Next, I made zigzags in the loops that go all along the outside of the mandala. You can see an example in the top of the next photo.
Finally, I squared off the largest blank sections of the mandala. Within this squared off sections I put a dot where the lines intersected. Like this (in the right of the photo):
When I filled in the mandala with all these “tangles” here is what the finished zendala looked like:
